Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc and Ms.Le Thi Thuy, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and President of the Vietnam Women's Union, present the 2026 Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards to outstanding Women's Union officials.

The Vietnam Women's Union Central Committee held the second Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards ceremony in Hanoi on the evening of October 16, as part of activities marking the 96th anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Union (1930–2026) and Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20. The prestigious award recognises the outstanding contributions of full-time Women's Union officials at all levels.

The award is named after legendary female general Nguyen Thi Dinh, former Vice President of the State Council and former President of the Vietnam Women's Union, who was an outstanding leader of the Dong Khoi uprising and the "Long-Haired Army". Presented periodically, the award honours full-time Women's Union officials who have achieved exceptional results and developed innovative initiatives and models that bring practical benefits to women and communities.

At the second award ceremony in 2026, the organisers honoured 32 exemplary full-time Women's Union officials representing tens of thousands of officials nationwide. The recipients included four officials at the central level, 16 at the provincial and municipal levels, and 12 at the grassroots level.

They include officials who have devoted more than 30 years to the women's movement, as well as young, enthusiastic grassroots Women's Union presidents who are willing to think creatively and take initiative. Undeterred by difficulties in remote areas, border regions and islands, they have persevered in reaching out to communities, going from door to door to bring Party guidelines and State policies to members. They have also actively supported livelihood development, expanded the "Godmother" programme, helped women escape poverty and taken the lead in digital transformation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Thuy, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and President of the Vietnam Women's Union, said the second Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards recognised exemplary full-time Women's Union officials who were dedicated to their work, deeply committed to the organisation, closely engaged with grassroots communities and closely connected with women and Union members.

Through concrete and practical actions, she said, the recipients had helped translate Party guidelines, State policies and laws, and the Union's tasks into everyday life. They had also served as trusted channels for listening to women's concerns and aspirations, conveying their legitimate wishes to the Party and State, and protecting their lawful rights and interests.

Through their dedication, sense of responsibility and quiet yet persistent contributions, as well as their modest but meaningful actions, the recipients had helped strengthen women's and Union members' trust in the Party, the State and the organisation. Their work had also strengthened the vitality, credibility and reach of the women's movement.

On behalf of the Vietnam Women's Union Central Committee, President Le Thi Thuy congratulated the recipients of the second Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards and praised their contributions. She expressed confidence that those honoured would continue to build on their achievements, sustain their enthusiasm, and take the lead in innovation and creativity.

Through their work and contributions, she said, they could help spread and build on effective practices and positive values, inspire women from all walks of life, and foster self-reliance, creativity and a stronger desire to contribute. This would enable more women to advance and develop together, further affirm the role and standing of Vietnamese women, and contribute more to the country's new era of development.
