All overseas Vietnamese joining their voices in the song As If Uncle Ho Were Present on the Great Victory Day

On the evening of August 19, the Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and surrounding areas held a get-together to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2) and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Thailand diplomatic relations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand Pham Viet Hung expressed delight in sharing the country's outstanding development strides in recent times. Emphasizing the consistent policy of the Party and State that considers the Vietnamese community abroad as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung stated that Resolution No. 23 on work with overseas Vietnamese, recently issued by the Politburo , further affirms this policy while setting out new directions to create a favorable environment for overseas Vietnamese to contribute more to the country's development, preserve national cultural traditions, integrate and develop in their host countries, and promote friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung praised the bridging role of overseas Vietnamese in the friendly relations between Vietnam and Thailand

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung thanked the Vietnamese community in Thailand for their contributions as an important bridge in Vietnam-Thailand relations, which are currently at their best stage in history. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the community would continue to work alongside the governments, businesses, and people of both countries to cultivate a relationship of trust, mutual understanding, and mutually beneficial cooperation, for the peace, stability, and development of the region and the world .

Representing the overseas Vietnamese, Mr. Do Xuan Loc, President of the Association of Thai People of Vietnamese Origin in Bangkok and Vicinity, shared: "Today, we gather here together in warm joy. All overseas compatriots, brothers, and sisters in the capital Bangkok and neighboring provinces wish that the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand grows increasingly sustainable and fine".

Attending and sharing in the community's joy, Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thailand–Vietnam Friendship Association, highly praised the role of the overseas Vietnamese and affirmed: "The Thailand–Vietnam Friendship Association maintains close coordination with public and private sector agencies in Thailand. We strive to support the community of Thai people of Vietnamese origin, especially the younger generation, to enhance connections, cooperation, and mutual assistance. I hope we will continue to join hands in active and creative cooperation toward an increasingly developed and prosperous future".

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Lam, President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand, expressed confidence that the new Executive Committee will continue to be a solid support system for compatriots; focusing on consolidating national unity, preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity, protecting the legitimate rights of overseas Vietnamese, and looking toward the homeland.

78-year-old Nguyen Thi Loi said she regularly attends community gatherings and hopes the Association will attract more overseas Vietnamese to participate in common activities, especially programs like "Spring in the Homeland" and traditional national holidays and festivals.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Minh Dong, representative of the Pho Van restaurant chain, expressed his joy and pride in being a young Vietnamese expatriate in Bangkok who can contribute to community activities.

He believes that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand also creates more opportunities for business activities, including the restaurant sector, to develop, while encouraging overseas Vietnamese to turn their attention to their homeland.

An artistic exchange program imbued with the melodies of the homeland and country

Following the solemn ceremony, the warm, homeland-filled atmosphere resonated with familiar melodies such as Ho Chi Minh, the Most Beautiful Name, and Eastern Truong Son, Western Truong Son. The ceremony concluded in an emotional atmosphere as all the overseas Vietnamese sang together the song As If Uncle Ho Were Present on the Great Victory Day, with hearts turned toward the Fatherland, filled with pride and solidarity far from home.
