Vietnamese Women's day celebration brings warmth to Cheb

Tran Van Dang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, presents flowers to congratulate the women.

The Vietnamese Women's Club in Cheb and neighbouring areas of the Czech Republic held a gathering to celebrate Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), themed "The Journey of Blossoms".

The event took place in a joyful, friendly and warm atmosphere, bringing together Vietnamese women living in Cheb and nearby areas in the Plzeň and Karlovy Vary regions, alongside representatives of community organisations and associations.

The presence of Mr. Tran Van Dang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, provided encouragement to the women and demonstrated the Union's support for community activities and the Vietnamese women's movement in the country.

Also attending were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Women's Union in the Czech Republic and Chairwoman of the Women's Club at Asia Dragon Shopping Centre in Svatý Kříž; and Ms. Nguyen Kim Loi, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Women's Union in the Czech Republic.

Ms. Vu Cam Lan, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Cheb Women's Club, expressed her gratitude to the older generations of women and mothers who have nurtured and preserved the cherished values of Vietnamese womanhood.

At the gathering, Chairman Tran Van Dang presented a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic to congratulate the women on Vietnamese Women's Day.

In his remarks, he extended his best wishes to all the women, wishing them good health, happiness and success, and encouraging them to continue nurturing their families and actively participating in community activities, helping strengthen solidarity and bonds among Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a cultural performance programme organised, rehearsed and presented by the women's clubs and Vietnamese women in Cheb and neighbouring areas. Without the need for a professional stage, the performers brought enthusiasm and love for their homeland to a diverse programme of singing, dancing and music inspired by Vietnamese traditions.

In particular, the graceful Vietnamese Ao Dai worn on stage created an atmosphere filled with a sense of home. Every Ao Dai, song and dance conveyed love for the homeland and pride in national culture. The performances brought joy, laughter and memorable moments of fellowship, while also helping preserve the Vietnamese language, traditional music and cultural identity within the Vietnamese community living far from home.

That is the way for the women to pass their love of Vietnamese culture on to younger generations, ensuring that the cherished values of their homeland continue to be treasured and carried forward wherever they live.

Beyond the performances, the programme provided an opportunity for the women to meet, share experiences and reminisce about life away from their homeland. Fresh flowers, heartfelt wishes, everyday stories and laughter created a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

In recent years, activities organised by women in Cheb and neighbouring areas have not only enriched community life but also provided opportunities for women to connect, strengthen solidarity, support one another and build a closer-knit Vietnamese community.

Through cultural activities and performances, the image of Vietnamese women as graceful, compassionate, dynamic and deeply attached to their homeland has also continued to gain visibility within the community.

Teenagers take part in the performances.

A particularly notable new feature of this year's programme was the number of individual performances by teenagers. Unlike in previous years, when they mainly performed alongside their aunts and mothers, the young participants took to the stage with performances of their own, bringing a youthful energy to the event and demonstrating the valuable role of younger generations in carrying community activities forward.
