Strengthening the Vietnamese community in Singapore contributes to deepening bilateral relations

On behalf of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Singapore , Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu and the high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam; emphasizing that in recent times, Vietnam-Singapore relations have become increasingly effective in all fields, and this visit is of great significance in contributing to further strengthening and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.

The Ambassador affirmed that the staff and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore have been, are, and will continue to perform well in three important tasks: political work, community work, and Party work, as well as internal unity, making positive contributions to the building and protection of the country in the future.

Reporting to Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu on the situation of the Vietnamese community, Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh emphasized that the community has shown particular interest in, support for, and devotion to their homeland, coordinating with the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore to organize many activities that foster connection, both in people-to-people diplomacy and in linking with Vietnam in the fields of science, technology, innovation, education and training, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship, contributing to promoting increasingly strong Vietnam-Singapore cooperation.

At the meeting, Professor Vu Minh Khuong, lecturer at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, affirmed that the visit of Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu and the high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam is of historical significance, opening up great opportunities and potentially becoming a model in bilateral and regional relations, aiming towards building peace, prosperity, and cooperation.

Ms. Ta Thuy Lien, Head of the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese People in Singapore, shared about the digital transformation model, affirming that the delegation's visit was a great source of encouragement for the community, fostering the desire and dedication to contribute intellectual resources to the homeland, and pledging that the community will be a strategic link, working closely with the country to realize the aspiration of a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu expressed his pleasure at meeting overseas Vietnamese and stated that the delegation's official visit to Singapore, co-chairing the first Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue, demonstrates Vietnam's consistent policy of giving high priority to neighboring countries in the region, including Singapore. This visit aims to further deepen relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the People's Action Party of Singapore, creating a solid political foundation and promoting comprehensive cooperation through Party, State, and people-to-people channels; contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two ruling parties.

Reporting on the domestic situation, Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu stated that Vietnam has completed one year of operating a two-tiered local government system. This is a very broad, difficult, and decisive reform, but one with strategic significance for the country. Preliminary reviews show positive results, such as a streamlined and synchronized administrative apparatus, improved legal institutions, and significant innovations in leadership, direction, and implementation. The people have shown consensus and support for the Party's major policies. However, the Party and State recognize that this is only the first step; many tasks remain to be done with greater determination, a more scientific approach, and a stronger spirit of innovation. The Party and State have identified the next central task as improving the operational quality, service capacity, and development-creating capacity of the new apparatus; and have outlined specific key tasks that need to be implemented. Accordingly, it is necessary to continue to comprehensively improve the legal and organizational structures; innovate the Party's leadership methods; promote decentralization and delegation of power while ensuring resources and controlling power; improve the quality of telecommunications and digital infrastructure; and accelerate digital transformation throughout the entire political system. In addition, building a team of officials capable of meeting the requirements of the new model will also be emphasized.

Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu stated that the Central Committee has also assessed the results of the first one year and six months of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. This has identified 10 strategic technologies linked to 30 strategic technology products and 20 major national challenges. Some Vietnamese businesses are gradually mastering technology and developing products to serve both the domestic and export markets. However, existing limitations and bottlenecks in institutions, infrastructure, human resources, and cybersecurity still need to be thoroughly addressed. In the coming period, the Party and State are determined to shift strongly towards creating concrete products, results, and value, contributing to double-digit growth targets; linking science and technology with the creation of new knowledge, mastering technology, and transforming it into new value for society. The focus is on concentrating resources to master and develop strategic technologies into concrete products. This is an area where Singapore has strengths, and the two sides have preliminarily agreed on some contents of the Vietnam-Singapore Technology Connectivity Strategy, with specific projects and activities, aiming to put the "three-party model of the two countries" into practical implementation in areas where both sides have strengths and needs.

According to Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu, the third plenary session of the 14th Party Central Committee, held last July, reviewed important issues concerning Party building, the political system, and national development in the new period. It also addressed four strategic shifts in Party building and the political system, in managing development space and effectively utilizing national resources, in socio-economic development, and in national defense and sustainable development. These are core contents aimed at creating a crucial political foundation to enable the country to confidently enter a new era of rapid and sustainable development.

Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu welcomed the core and active role of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese community in Singapore in uniting the community, maintaining and promoting the traditional cultural identity of their homeland in Singapore; and providing timely guidance to utilize and develop the strengths of overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals who are ready to bring knowledge and technology back to build and develop the country. Comrade Tran Cam Tu affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to and care for the Vietnamese community abroad, considering them an inseparable part and an important resource of the nation.

Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Tran Cam Tu commended the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore for their efforts in successfully fulfilling their assigned political tasks; effectively implementing the Party's foreign policy; contributing to further consolidating and promoting relations between the two Parties and two countries; and urged the Embassy to continue to do even better in caring for the community and strengthening the connection between overseas Vietnamese and their families.
